The North Sea always had a special place in the foundation’s heart, and therefore it seemed obvious that the logo should draw on associations to the ocean and the forces of the wind in its form. Beside acting as a specific visual element, the wave can also be seen as a symbol of a movement; an ambition to create a new agenda which increases from the first small ripple to the large ocean waters.
The symbol has an almost rotating effect – something dynamic and cyclical in progress but without a specific end point. Nature is never static, but always in a continuous flow – an aspect which connects to the foundation’s fight for autonomy of nature and no boundaries.
Purple is a colour which can be found many places in nature – for example the heather in the dunes or in the deepest sunset – but it’s not the first colour which comes to mind when we think of nature. Therefore the colour of the logo stands out in nature, while it’s still a part of it!
